Adult Education Evening Courses

NCCTC, located at 1700 West Montgomery Street, Coal Township is offering the following courses...

 

HVAC Basics
Hrs: 18 (six weeks)
Tuition: $175 (Includes Materials)
Days: Wednesdays (Begins October 19th)
Time: 6:00-9:00
 
This course is designed for anyone who needs to understand basic operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of air conditioning and refrigeration systems. 

Fundamentals of a/c and refrigeration. Learn and understand a/c parts, equipment, controls and their functions. How to check refrigeration pressures and how to charge a system. Troubleshooting methods for equipment and electrical controls including compressors, expansion valves, relays and contactors. An option to obtain the EPA 608 Refrigerant Certification will be an offering at an additional costs at the conclusion of the course.

 
 

Residential Wiring
Hrs: 18 (Six weeks)
Tuition: $175 (Includes Materials)
Days: Thursdays (Begins October 20th)
Time: 6:00-9:00

Using theory and lab activities, this course covers basic electricity and home wiring, including wiring materials and devices, splicing, outlets, switches, residential service requirements, lighting and National Electric Code. 

 

Welding (Basic)

Hrs: 18 (Three weeks)

Tuition: $175 (Includes Materials)

Days: Tues & Thurs three weeks (beginning October 18th)

Time: 6:00-9:00

 The Welding Basic course is designed for the person with little welding experience. Students are provided learning experiences through lecture, demonstration and hands-on practice to advance their skills in: Oxy Fuel Cutting and Welding (OFC-OFW), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), plasma cutting, basic blue-print interpretation, brazing and out-of-position welding. The course is aligned to coincide with the needs of the industries in Northumberland and surrounding counties, such as ACF Industries, a leading manufacturer of Railcars.

 

 Medical Terminology

Hrs: 18 (Six weeks)

Tuition: $150

Days: Thursdays (Begins October 20th)

Time: 6:00-9:00

 This class aids students in mastering the language of medicine. Students learn the various elements known as word parts that make up the medical terms. Each lesson acquaints students with the terms related to each body system as well as the abbreviations utilized in the medical language. This course teaches medical terminology from an anatomical approach. Root terms are divided by each body system. The origin, a combined form, and an example of non-medical everyday usage is provided for each root term. Word Associations are provided as a learning tool. Unusual and interesting information is provided in regards to each term. Root terms are combined with prefixes and suffixes as your learning will culminate in the interpretation of several paragraphs of medical notes

 

 Know your Car Care

Hrs: 18 (Six weeks)

Tuition: $150

Days: Tuesdays (Begins October 20th)

Time: 6:00-9:00

Do you want to know how to change the oil in your car? The focus of this course is to provide the layperson with basic knowledge of the operation and maintenance of passenger vehicles. Instruction includes basic maintenance procedures and minor repairs. This course is designed to provide experience with preventive maintenance/routine service areas, vehicle lubrication, and engine tune-up. The class consists of theory, demonstration and hands-on activities.

 

 DENTAL ASSISTING- (Introduction)

Hrs: 18 (Six weeks)

Tuition: $150

Days: Tuesdays (Begins October 18th)

Time: 6:00-9:00

 This course is an introduction to a career in Dental Assisting. Topics to be covered include: oral anatomy, dental terminology, clinical assisting, infection control, taking and pouring impressions, studying models, dental charting, local anesthetics, and mixing cements.

 

 




Intro to Microsoft Word

Hrs: 18 (Six Weeks)

 This course is designed for students who wish to learn the basic operations of Microsoft Word 2010. This is an introductory course that explores the basic Word 2010 tools and features. Students will learn how to:

 Create documents

 Set margins & alignments

 Set tabs

 Insert page breaks

 Format text

 Create headers and footers

 Create different types of documents using templates

 Add graphics to documents

 And much more!

 Intro to Microsoft Excel

Hrs: 18 (Six weeks)

This is an introductory course in Microsoft Excel 2010. Learn how to use spread-sheets to manage your data at work and at home. Students will:

 Create workbooks

 Add and delete worksheets

 Understand the use of various data entry techniques

 Understand rows, columns, and cells

 Format text and numbers

 Create different types of spreadsheets using templates

 Use basic mathematical formulas
